I just wanted to say thanks for the great app, but I have something of a feature request/pseudo bug report.

I installed VTM the other day because I thought the content sheets it outputs are really slick (and definitely a big fan of the batch processing abilities). However, VTM would fail to render the video regardless of the filesize/format of video I used with this in the Diag.log file:

An error occured during the graph building :
Creating an instance of the COM component with CLSID {51B4ABF3-748F-4E3B-A276-C828330E926A} from the IClassFactory failed due to the following error: 80040273.

I tried some different things to try troubleshooting the problem and discovered VTM works fine on my host system (I was trying to run VTM from inside a vmware virtual machine).

I googled around some and found out that due to the fact that VM's need to virtualize the graphics card, they have less than perfect Direct3D support, and the "80040273" error seems to be related to problems with the VMR9 renderer being unable to access certain resources

google thread on the error code

Quote
VFW_E_DDRAW_CAPS_NOT_SUITABLE means that the Direct3D9
resources needed by the VMR9 are not available, either
because the video driver does not properly support D3D9 or
it does not support D3D9 in the current display mode or
because all the available surfaces are in use or because
hardware acceleration is disabled, whether on purpose or
because the desktop configuration requires software
emulation (e.g. rotated desktop or multi-screen desktop) or
because of several other similar reasons.

As a quick side note, I'm using VMWare 6.5 Workstation which *does* support DirectX9c and D3D, my host machine has plenty of power (GPU, CPU, and RAM), and hardware acceleration is definitely enabled on both the host and guest OS.

Anyway, long story short, I work almost exclusively from within virtual machines for various reasons, and it would be awesome if I could use VTM from within a VM. If you have any virtualization programs on your machine (or if you don't, you can download them for free), it would be great if you could take a look and see if there are any alternate renderers or techniques you could use to allow VTM to work within a virtual machine. Video playback works perfectly fine, and MPC is able to make thumbnails and capture images without any problem so it *is* possible. If you have any luck getting VTM to play nice from within a VM I'd really love to hear back from you.

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions, and thanks once again for a great app.

Best regards biggrin
