VTM and IDimager

Hi@all

i found the VTM today and i begin to love it, but...

to organize my TV video collection (AVI, MOV and MPG) i use th ID Imager. (katalog, tags, description)
The Problem is:

1) Thumb generated as JPG = I see the Thumb in IDimager, but i have no correlation to the Videofile

2) Thumb generated as .VTX = I could use the Correlation in the VTX file to start the Video, but i can't see a Prview in ID IMager (Cause the .VTX file generates no Preview in Windows -only the "V" is seen as thumb)

So my question is: is it possible to visualize a preview on .VTX files in Windows?
In that case, i could use the vtx files in IDimager and start the movie with the buildin mechanism of the vtxplayer (doubleclick on an asst inside of IDimager starts the Asset with their standard Application)

Thanks a lot for your help

Markus

Ok, i'm a step further....

If i rename the .vtx file in .jpg a thumbnail will be generated. The Problem is, even when i tell windows to open .jpg files with thumbnailmaker viewer, it dosn't work... the viewer dont show the picture.
If i rename the file back to .vtx the thumbnail will not be shown anymory in windows...
The solution could be, that i have to teach windows, that a .vtx file is a pictureformat, so that a thumb will be generated.
Any Idea?

And another step further... smile
Directory Opus shows thumbnails on .VTX files without problems...
Hm, whats the difference between diropus and the explorer??

PS: i use Windows7

Hi Gecko,

I thing that we must use a script. By the way, i take a look with the trial of IDimager, nice, but very slow, on my side i use Thumbplus 7.0, it could also use script.
What i will try is to limit file type view to jpeg, so we could see with catalog, only jpeg created by vtm. But when you want to see the jpeg, in fact the script will launch the view of the vtx files, and so, viiewing the vtx, you could launch the video.
As soon as i have a result i will come back here....

Friendly.

Francis

Hi Francis,

thanks for your Answer!
But isn't it more usefull to use the VTM generated .jpg instead of the .vtx files and then launch direct the video by a script? Couldn't that be a workaround?
On the other side... I don't now anything about scripting smile
But it would be very nice if you can help me with the script

Friendly
